Job Description – Maintenance Planner

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Planner plays a key role within the maintenance team by actively contributing to the planning and scheduling of maintenance work, ensuring the most efficient use of human and material resources.
This role is focused on improving equipment reliability and strictly adhering to occupational health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate health, safety, and environmental risks before work begins; consult with relevant personnel and include proper work procedures (resources, materials, equipment, and emergency plans)
  • Coordinate with Environmental Services to handle hazardous materials
  • Assist in the implementation of SAP Maintenance
  • Analyze and recommend actions to prevent or eliminate risks related to failures, safety, environment, production losses, and maintenance costs
  • Keep maintenance procedures and preventive/predictive methods up to date as approved by the Maintenance Superintendent
  • Review work orders to ensure they are properly completed, confirming scope, deadlines, and clarity
  • Receive and process all maintenance requests and work orders
  • Evaluate or gather cost estimates for materials, labor, contractors, and equipment rental
  • Ensure parts and materials are available on-site before scheduled work begins (reserve or order if not in inventory)
  • Help manage direct-use parts and inventory in line with established processes
  • Create and maintain equipment files: specifications, parts lists, documents, and work procedures
  • Assist in developing standard maintenance procedures for recurring or critical tasks
  • Generate and track key planning and scheduling performance indicators (e.g., scheduling rate, planning accuracy)
  • Collaborate with operations in decision-making based on performance analysis
  • Ensure that equipment modification requests follow the required process
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and procedures at the Kiena mining complex
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Technical diploma in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Valid general explosives permit
  • FMTM modules (1 to 5 and 7)

Experience

At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
