Job description
The overhead crane technician ensures the proper functioning of lifting systems to guarantee the safety and efficiency of industrial operations. The candidate will be responsible for service calls, commissioning, installation of electrical and mechanical components, troubleshooting, and periodic inspections for all types of lifting equipment (overhead cranes, monorails, jib cranes, gantries, etc.). The territory to be covered includes the province of Quebec, mainly the Greater Montreal area.
Your main responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on overhead cranes and lifting equipment at client sites;
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures;
- Inspect lifting systems to ensure compliance with safety standards;
- Carry out and complete installation and equipment modernization projects;
- Gather necessary information for parts ordering and work planning;
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations at client sites;
- Prepare and submit properly completed inspection reports to clients;
- Represent the company professionally with clients and partners;
- Enter collected data and inspection details into company systems;
- Collaborate with production and safety teams to optimize equipment usage;
- Conduct load and mechanical tests as per engineer directives;
- Contribute to the development of the lifting equipment department.
Requirements
- DEP in industrial mechanics, electromechanics, or any relevant training.
Experience
- 1 to 3 years of experience in lifting equipment maintenance (overhead cranes, hoists, gantries).
Technical skills
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems;
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical diagrams;
- Mastery of safety standards in lifting and material handling.
Other skills
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Autonomy and attention to detail;
- Good communication skills and team spirit.
